Berni Hambleton

Berni founded Sterling IP in 2008 as a boutique intellectual property practice, specialising in therapeutic assets. She is a European Patent Attorney, a UK Chartered Patent Attorney and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA) with more than 13 years’ of experience gained in private practice and multi-national pharmaceutical companies. Berni also qualified as an Australian and New Zealand Patent and Trade Mark Attorney in 2005.
Berni has experience in building patent portfolios for protecting pharmaceutical assets, freedom of operation analysis and due diligence for investors and those seeking investment. In 2012, Sterling IP was very pleased to see two of their clients receive funding to the tune of $45 million.
Berni has experience in European opposition and appeal hearings and UK proceedings involving revocations of UK patents at the UKIPO.
As a former member of the Joint Examining Board, Berni was responsible for writing and moderating the legal paper for the Advanced UK Chartered Patent Attorney exams from 2007 to 2011.
